President Jefferson has made the Louisiana Purchase! The size of the United States has more than doubled! We wanted New Orleans, but we got a whole lot more!
Now, Jefferson wants to send explorers out to find out just what the United States got in the deal. What is out there? Desert? Rich land for farming? Lakes? Animals? New plants?
Your task is to explore and discover exactly what was found by the Corps of Discovery in 1804-1806.
In your exploration teams, you should do the following:
1. Decide roles:
-Cartographer (Map maker)
-Anthropologist (Native American specialist)
-Botanist (plant specialist)
-Zoologist (animal specialist)
-Supply master
2. Explore the websites to the right.
3. Gather information related to your role.
4. Create a journal to record your findings.
5. Report your findings to other exploration teams.
